US state privacy notice

Version 2 ยท Effective 26 August 2026

This notice supplements the Privacy Policy for players in the United States. It is written for California's CCPA as amended by the CPRA, and it applies the same rights to residents of every other state with a comprehensive privacy law, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, Texas, Oregon, Montana, Delaware, Iowa, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Minnesota, Maryland, Tennessee, Indiana, Kentucky and Rhode Island, because running one standard is simpler than running eighteen and there is nothing in the stricter ones we object to.

1. We do not sell or share your personal information

We have not sold personal information, and we have not shared it for cross-context behavioural advertising, in the last twelve months. We do not have an advertising partner, we do not run an ad SDK, and we do not build advertising profiles.

Because we do not do either, there is no "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link to give you, the answer would be the same before and after you clicked it. If that ever changes, this notice will change with it, and the link will be here.

We also do not sell or share the personal information of anybody we know to be under 16. Players must be 13 or over.

2. What we collect, in the statute's categories

CCPA category Do we collect it? Examples, if yes
A. Identifiers Yes An account identifier we generate, Apple's per-vendor device identifier, a hashed Game Center player identifier, a Sign in with Apple identifier, an email address if you write to support
B. Customer records Yes, limited A display name you choose; a relay email address if you allow Apple to share one
C. Protected classifications No None
D. Commercial information Yes Which in-app products you bought and when, and whether you have ever bought anything. Not your payment details, Apple holds those
E. Biometric information No None
F. Internet or network activity Yes Sessions, screens opened and how long you spent on each, levels started and finished, how a run ended, crash reports, app and OS version
G. Geolocation data No We record the country your device is set to, which you chose in your phone's settings. We do not derive location from your IP address and we never collect precise location. Version 1 of this notice said country came from your IP address; it does not, and this correction narrows what we collect rather than expanding it
H. Audio, video, or similar No We record the inputs of a run, button presses, to verify a score. Nothing from your microphone, camera or screen
I. Professional information No None
J. Education information No None
K. Inferences No We do not build profiles or infer characteristics about you
Sensitive personal information No We do not collect it, and therefore do not use or disclose it for any purpose that would give you a right to limit it

Each category comes from the sources and is used for the purposes described in sections 1 and 2 of the Privacy Policy. We disclose identifiers, commercial information and internet activity to our hosting provider and to Apple for business purposes only, under contracts that forbid them from using it for their own.

3. Your rights

You have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we have collected, used and disclosed, and to get a copy of it in a portable form;
  • Delete what we hold about you;
  • Correct anything inaccurate;
  • Opt out of sale, sharing, and targeted advertising, which we do not do;
  • Limit the use of sensitive personal information, which we do not collect;
  • Not be discriminated against for exercising any of these. Using a right will never change your progress, your items or your price.

Some states also give you the right to appeal a decision we make about a request, and to opt out of profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects. We do not profile.

4. How to make a request

  • Deletion is in the game. Settings โ†’ Delete my account. It closes the account permanently, deletes your saved progress and device records, and anonymises your profile. Past leaderboard entries stay, stripped of your name, because they are part of other players' rankings. Section 7 of the Privacy Policy sets this out line by line, and we will remove those too if you ask.
  • Getting a copy is in the game. Settings โ†’ Profile โ†’ Get a copy of my data writes a skyward-my-data.json file you can open or share from the Files app. That is the "right to know, in a portable form", answered without you having to write to anybody.
  • Everything else (correction, appeals, or the raw analytics rows behind the summary in the export): email privacy@unichat.dev with what you would like.

We respond within 45 days, and may take another 45 where the law allows, in which case we will tell you why.

How we verify you. We do not know who you are and would rather keep it that way, so we verify a request by matching it to the account it is about. Making the request from inside the game authenticates it by itself. From email, we may ask you for your player identifier (Settings shows it) or ask you to confirm from the device.

Authorised agents may make a request on your behalf with written permission from you, and we may ask you to confirm it directly.

5. Appeals

If we refuse a request, you may appeal by replying to our answer with the word appeal and your reasons. A different person reviews it and answers within 45 days. If we refuse the appeal, we will tell you how to complain to your state's Attorney General.

6. Notice of financial incentive

We do not offer one. Nothing in SKYWARD costs more, pays less or plays differently based on what data you let us keep.
